  • T.A.B. stands for Teaching for Artistic Behavior. It is a pedagogy that centers around the idea that each student is an artist in their own right and has the ability to make meaningful, personal artwork based on their individual interests and skill levels. T.A.B. classrooms are choice based, meaning that students are taught to take ownership of their art education, thereby choosing both the subject and the medium of their art projects.

  • I transition between the roles of teacher and facilitator depending on what’s going on in the classroom. On Lesson Days, I teach students art vocabulary, history or theory. These days are also reserved for reviews, quizzes and tests. Demo Days are when students learn techniques, practice using various mediums, or practice a specific art style/movement. I transition to facilitator on Studio Days and students dictate what they work on. They have the choice to work on a project, practice techniques, research, assist a classmate, or
